Brief history of Hoodia Gordonii
Grown mainly in the Kalahari Desert region of Southern Africa (which covers South Africa, Namibia, Angola, Zambia and Botswana), Hoodia Gordonii is an all-natural appetite suppressant, derived from a cactus-like plant with prickly spikes.
For thousands of years the San Bushman of the Kalahari region have known that they will feel little hunger on their hunting trips, if they chew the inner parts of this plant.
Researchers from Government institutes as well as leading international pharmaceutical companies have investigated this claim, and found that Hoodia indeed contains an active ingredient which they named P-57, and which directly influences a part in your brain called hypothalamus to suppress the feeling of hunger.
This part of your brain controls your appetite. When you eat, the glucose levels in your body rise. As these levels go up, the hypothalamus sends off a signal to your cells to stop eating. This is when you start to feel full. Hoodia Gordonii's molecule, P57, tells your brain the same exact thing, even if you haven't eaten a bite. By mimicking the effects of glucose on your brain, the hypothalamus starts to send messages to your cells which in turn, make you feel full.
Drug companies, eager to tap into the multi-billion dollar diet industry, are now in the process of developing a multitude of products to cash in on Hoodia Gordonii's ancient benefits.
Experts think that Hoodia Gordonii will easily surpass another Pfizer product, Viagra, in popularity, and sales, which is no easy feat.
Where do you get your Hoodia Gordonii from?
There are three companies legally licensed to grow, dry, and sell Hoodia Gordonii in Southern Africa. We use one of these companies who has established 'farms' in the Kalahari Desert, Botswana.
As there are still doubts as to how much the nutrients in the earth contribute to the potency of the Hoodia, we prefer to use plants grown in the Kalahari.
Are the Hoodia products you produce pharmaceutical grade?
There is no such thing as Pharmaceutical Grade Herbals. Our Hoodia products use pure Hoodia Gordonii powder which is tested at every stage of production.
How are you licensed with the FDA, OTC?
Dietary Supplements are not licensed by the FDA in the USA as per the DShea Act of 1994.
Where are your Hoodia products made?
For several reasons, our products are manufactured in the USA.
- As one of the largest markets in the World for weight loss products is the USA, it seems sensible to base our manufacturing arm there.
- Production costs are cheaper than in the UK, allowing us to keep our wholesale prices down.
- The manufacturing plant has over 25 years knowledge and expertise in making natural herbal products.

Quality Control tests are done at the raw material supplies, at the manufacturing plant on receipt of the raw Hoodia Powder, and then further tests are done once the products are manufactured.
All tests are compliant with national regulations.
Each production run of product is issued with Certificates of Analysis, and Microbiological Certificates.
